Area Headquarters - Western Region - SLCG Waruna


The Western Region Headquarters of Sri Lanka Coast Guard “Waruna” is located at Wellawatte. SLCG Western Region functions under the administrative and operational supervision of SLCG Waruna and commanded by the Western Regional Director.

SLCG Waruna which presently being the premier administrative establishment in western region of Sri Lanka Coast Guard, is commanded by the Commanding officer.

Western Region consisted twelve Coast Guard substations and Nine Life saving points including Life saving training school.

This unit Involves in prevention of marine pollution activities at Colombo harbour area. The IPCs deployed at Dikovita fishing harbour are involved in preventing all illegal fishing activities and smuggling whilst proving assistance in piloting to foreign fishing vessels.


Sri Lanka Coast Guard Life Saving Posts at Western Region

The main aim of life saving post is to minimize the accident which occurred at sea and inland. Presently there are nine life saving units are operating in Galle Face, Wellawatta, Dehiwala, Mount Lavinia, Panadura, Moragalla, Bentota, Balapitiya and Hikkaduwa. Life guards of the SLCG Western region have been saved more than 140 people, locals as well as the foreigners from drowning.
