Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Shoor’ on a goodwill visit to Sri Lanka has arrived port of Colombo on 30th March 2018. Following the naval customs and traditions, ship was warmly welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Officials from the Indian High Commission of Sri Lanka, Navy and Coast Guard were in attendance at the port to welcome the ship.
During the visit Commanding Officer of the ship DIG B Murugan made a courtesy call to Director General Coast Guard, Rear Admiral GDAS Wimalathunge at Coast Guard Rear Headquarters on 31st March 2018 where both sides exchanged mementos to symbolize the event. Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard participated on a reception held onboard on the same day.
During the five days stay in Sri Lanka, ship’s crew participated in many activities with SLCG including beach cleaning programme, friendly volleyball match, training programmes onboard and passage exercise with SLCG Suraksha off Colombo harbour. In addition, visitors got the opportunity visit many locations in the country including Kandy and Galle.
After five days stay in Sri Lanka ICGS Shoor left port of Colombo on 3rd April 2018.
