SLCG LIFESAVERS MARKED THEIR EXCELLENCE BY RESCUING 1000 LIVES AT SEA

 

       Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers proved their capability and excellence by saving 1000 lives since its inception in 2009. SLCG passed this mile stone on 17th April 2018 when lifesavers attached to Hikkaduwa lifesaving post rescued three Sri Lankan youths in the age of 19 to 21 years who are from Veyangoda, Pasyala and Yakkala area.

       Since its establishment in 2009, Sri Lanka Coast Guard has realized the importance of the lifesaving and established 13 Life Saving Posts around the island. Sri Lanka Coast Guard has made its first life rescue on 01st December 2009 at Mirissa and since then Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save 1001 lives to date. These figures reflect the dedication, commitment, and continuous training effort of the SLCG lifesavers. They are committed and work hard continuously to ensure safe beaches around the island while encountering challenges coming ahead. All lifesavers were trained in SLCG Life Saving School at Balapitiya where training is provide to SLCG, Tri services, university students and civilians up to internationally recognized Silver medal standard.
