COAST GUARD RESCUED A FOREIGNER AND TWO LOCAL MALES IN THREE SUCCESSFUL RESCUE ATTEMPTS

The Life Savers attached to Coast Guard Life Saving Training School (LSTS), Balapitiya and Coast Guard Life Saving Posts, Mt Lavinia and Panadura saved three males (one foreigner and two local) during successful rescue attempts on 10th and 14th October 2021.

A 32 years old male from Russia was rescued by Coast Guard life savers at Mt Lavinia beach and transferred to Teaching Hospital Kalubowila. Another 17 years old male from Wathugedara was also rescued by LSTS emergency response life saving team in an arduous attempt against strong surf and hospitalized after administering first aids to base hospital, Balapitiya for further treatments. A 51 years old male from Batakettara was rescued by Coast Guard life savers at Panadura beach while drowning and dragging away by current.

So far, Sri Lanka Coast Guard life savers have rescued a total of 1577 invaluable lives including 704 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
