ARRESTED 10 KGS OF OCEAN WHITE TIP SHARK

Coast Guard personnel performing Fishing Monitoring Duties at Oluvil fishery harbour arrested 01 multiday fishing trawler named ‘Nathaliya’ and 05 crew members along with 10 kgs of Ocean White Tip Shark on 19thApril 2018. Arrested persons, illegal fishing catch and trawler handed over to the fisheries development officer Oluvil for further investigations and legal actions.

The White Tip Shark is a protected species under Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act no. 2 of 1996.
