05 FISHERMEN ARRESTED WITH ILLEGAL FISHING HARVEST

Coast Guard personnel on duty at FMP Cod Bay arrested 05 persons with 05 No’s of Thresher shark fins (01 KG) whilst checking of returning multiday fishing trawler and arrested persons with items handed over to Assistance Director Fisheries of Trincomalee for further investigations and legal action.

Thresher shark is a protected fish species under the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources ACT, No 2 of 1996.
