5TH INTERNATIONAL MARITIME LAW ENFORCEMENT COURSE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AT ADVANCED TRAINING CENTER (ATC), MIRISSA

International Maritime Law Enforcement (IMLE) course successfully completed at Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Advanced Training Centre (ATC), Mirissa for the fifth time which was conducted from 6th to 17th August 2018. Whole event was coordinated by the United State Embassy of Sri Lanka and United State Coast Guard (USCG). Eight each participants from Maldives Coast Guard and SLCG followed the course and four each instructors from SLCG and USCG conducted the training programme.

This course focused on Maritime Law Enforcement instructional techniques and provided students with the capacity to understand and utilized fundamental Maritime Law Enforcement instructions. The curriculum focused on reducing unnecessary risks to the boarding team while maximizing use of effective law enforcement techniques, high risk search techniques, extensive instruction and practical exercises. Many practical exercises were conducted to conduct onboard SLNS Jayasagara at Galle harbour.

Closing ceremony of the MLE course was held at 0930hrs on 17th August at ATC, Mirissa with the presence of the Deputy Director General SLCG, The Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Programme advisor from US Embassy and other senior officers of the CGHQ.
