SRI LANKA COAST GUARD CONDUCTS AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR FISHERMEN IN CHILAW

Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel attached to SLCG ‘Waruna’ conducted a special awareness programme for fishermen in Chilaw area at Chilaw fisheries centre on 08th November 2019. During the programme fishermen were educated on Sri Lanka Coast Guard role in fishery activities and existing fishing regulations. Total of 56 personnel participated for this programme including fishery officials, chair persons of fishery societies and fishermen in area.

The programme was highly praised by the participants and SLCG continue to conduct such awareness programs Island wide to prevent illegal fishing activities in Sri Lankan waters.
