COMMODORE ANURA EKANAYAKE ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF SRI LANKA COAST GUARD

Commodore Anura Ekanayake has been appointed as the 6th Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard with effect from 01st October 2020. Accordingly, former Director General Rear Admiral Samantha Wimalathunge officially handed over the duties of the position to the new Director General at the Coast Guard Headquarters on 01st October 2020.

Observing the religious rituals, Commodore Anura Ekanayake assumed his duties as the new Director General with the participation of Deputy Director General of Coast Guard, Heads of Departments and Commanding Officers. The new Director General was accorded with a guard of honour.

Commodore Anura Ekanayake joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 16th Intake in 1987and has an illustrious career spanning over 33 years. Prior to being appointed as the Director General SLCG, Commodore Anura Ekanayake had been serving as the Director Naval Projects and Planning of the Sri Lanka Navy.
