SRI LANKA COAST GUARD APPREHENDED ILLEGALLY CAUGHT DOLPHIN FLESH AND SHARK FINS

Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel deployed at Codbay fishery harbour in Trincomalee for fishing monitoring duties, arrested six fishermen with illegally caught 06 kg of dried Dolphin flesh and 12 no’s of Shark fins on 21st October 2020 during a search operation carried out on board a Multiday fishing trawler on arrival harbour. Apprehended items had been hidden in a fertilizer sack and in a secret place before they were found by the Coast Guard personnel.

Arrested persons with apprehended items were handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries (ADF) in Trincomalee for onward legal actions.
