SLCG LIFE SAVERS SAVED SIX DROWNING LOCALS AT BENTOTA BEACH

The Life Savers attached to Coast Guard Life Saving Post Bentota, saved six lives in 3 successful rescue attempts on 28th February and 01st March 2021.

4 Local males in their twenties were rescued on evening, 28th February in two occasions whilst drowning and dragging away by currents near Bentota beach. Another 2 local teenagers were also rescued whilst drowning on 01st March.

The swift responses by skilled life savers of Coast Guard managed to bring back hope for all six drowning locals despite heavy current prevailed in the area.

Sri Lanka Coast Guard has established 18 Life Saving Post at public beaches to ensure the beaches are safe for beach goers. So far, Sri Lanka Coast Guard live savers have rescued a total of 1541 invaluable lives including 700 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
