SLCG LIFE SAVERS SAVED THREE DROWNING LOCALS

The Life Savers attached to Coast Guard Life Saving Post Bentota, Mount Lavinia and Nilaweli saved three lives in 3 successful rescue attempts on 12th and 13th March 2021.

Two local (21 years and 8 years) males were rescued on evening, 12th March in two occasions whilst drowning and dragging away by currents near Mount Lavinia and Nilaweli Beach. Another local male was also rescued whilst drowning with a dislocated shoulder on 01st March at Bentota Beach.

Sri Lanka Coast Guard has established 18 Life Saving Posts at public beaches to ensure the beaches are safe for beachgoers. So far, Sri Lanka Coast Guard life savers have rescued a total of 1548 invaluable lives including 703 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
