SRI LANKA COAST GUARD APPREHENDED A FISHING VESSEL WITH ILLEGALLY HARVESTED SHARK FINS

Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel deployed at Cod bay Fishery Harbour in Trincomalee for fishery monitoring and regulating duties apprehended Multiday Fishing Vessel along with six fishermen in possession of illegally harvested Shark fins and dried Shark flesh on 09^th June 2021.

SLCG personnel found 47 dried Shark fins and approx. 80kg of dried Shark flesh concealed in the fishing gears during a search operation conducted on board a ‘Multiday Fishing Vessel’ which returned harbour after month long fishing on 9^th June.

Fishing Vessel and arrested persons were handed over to Additional Director, Fisheries, Trincomalee for onward legal actions.
