INDIAN COAST GUARD PROVIDES MACHINERY SPARES TO SRI LANKA COAST GUARD

Mr. Vinod Jacob , the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka visited Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Headquarters for the Handing over ceremony to mark the completion of delivery of Machinery spares of SLCGS Suraksha today (29th June 2021). The Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear admiral Anura Ekanayake received Mr. Vinod Jacob, and proper mark of respect was also accorded. Mementoes were also exchanged to mark the significance of the event.

Vikram class Offshore Patrol Vessel Ex-ICGS Varuna donated by the Government of India to Sri Lanka in 2017 and commissioned in Sri Lanka Coast Guard as SLCGS Suraksha. Since the donation, Indian Coast Guard has provided machinery spares and technical assistance to make the ship operational. Recent stock of Machinery spares transferred to Sri Lanka June 2021.

The continuous technical assistance to Sri Lanka Coast Guard showcases the close relation between two Coast Guards which was highlighted during the recently concluded 5th High Level meeting between ICG and SLCG.
