SLCG LIFE SAVERS SAVED FIVE DROWNING LOCALS

The Life Savers attached to Coast Guard Life Saving Post Gopalapuram, Trincomalee saved Five lives in two successful rescue attempts on 9th August 2021.

The first rescue was done around 1400 hrs and the rescuer is 18 years old female from Pujapitiya. At the second rescue of the day, two males and two females from Nilaweli were saved around 1630hrs.

The swift responses by skilled life savers of Coast Guard managed to bring back hope for all five drowning personnel despite heavy current prevailed in the area.

Sri Lanka Coast Guard has established 18 Life Saving Posts at public beaches to ensure the beaches are safe for beachgoers. So far, Sri Lanka Coast Guard life savers have rescued a total of 1567 invaluable lives including 703 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
