SLCG LIFE SAVERS RESCUED ANOTHER SEVEN DROWNING LOCALS

The Life Savers attached to Coast Guard Life Saving Post, Gopalpuram Beach, Trincomalee rescued three males and four females during a successful rescue attempt approximately 1600hrs on 16th August 2021.

All seven persons are belongs to one family residing in Akurana – Kandy, was on a family trip. They were rescued whilst drowning and dragged away by currents near the Beach area.

Quick responses by skilled life savers of Coast Guard managed to bring back the whole family ashore despite heavy currents prevailed. All of them were given necessary first aid by the lifeguards and three of them were sent to Nilaweli Hospital for further treatments.

Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifeguards manning Gopalapuram Beach itself to ensure safety of the community. So far, Sri Lanka Coast Guard life savers have rescued a total of 1574 lives including 703 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
