Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) personnel deployed at Beruwala fishery Harbour for fishery monitoring and regulating duties, apprehended 06 fishermen with a multiday fishing trawler in possession of illegally harvested Shark Fins approximately 134.85kgs (233 fins) on 25^th September 2021.

Global Maritime Crime Program (GMCP) of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime conducted four modules of two days training sessions in judgmental training for SLCG personnel at Advanced Training Center (ATC) Mirissa from 24^th August 2021 to 03^rd September 2021. This is the first training programme of this nature in Sri Lanka which was delivered by a qualified instructor from UNODC and 32 numbers of SLCG personnel completed their training during above period.
