SLCG PASSED ANOTHER MILESTONE IN REGIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING

United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) sponsored Vessel Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) and VBSS instructor training programs were successfully completed on 24th September 2021. The training programs were conducted at Advanced Training Centre of SLCG and Weligambay villas Hotel, Mirissa by utilizing the resources belongs to UNODC/SLCG.

03 Officers from SLCG and 21 participants from Ghana and Nigeria law enforcement agencies were awarded the certificates at the closing ceremony. The Deputy Head of GMCP-UNODC, Ms Siri Bjune was the chief guest of the ceremony. Deputy Director General SLCG, Commodore NMJD Nishshanka, RWP, RSP, USP, ndu, nswc, MSc (NS&WS) represented the SLCG.

Ms Siri Bjune, congratulated all course participants for successful completion of the course and specially expressed her appreciation to the SLCG for active participation and cooperation with GMCP -UNODC for regional law enforcement training for the first time in Mirissa, during the remarks of the chief guest. There was an exchange of mementoes between the Deputy Head of GMCP-UNODC and Deputy Director General SLCG showcasing mutual cooperation between UNODC and SLCG.

The collaborative efforts of UNODC, GMCP and SLCG ensures the continuous capacity building of the members of local and friendly foreign law enforcement agencies to prevent internationally organized maritime crimes globally and agencies were agreed to conduct further training throughout this year at ATC Mirissa.
