SLCG ARRESTED FOUR FISHERMEN ENGAGING IN ILLEGAL FISHING PRACTICES

Sri Lanka Coast Guard patrol craft deployed off Trincomalee area on routine patrol arrested/apprehended 04 fishermen with an FGD whilst engaging illegal fishing on 29^th October 2021. They were engaged in a purse seine net fishing operation close to the Trincomalee harbour entrance (approximately 02 km from the land). According to the existing fishing operation regulations, purse seine net fishing are authorized only in the area beyond 11.2 km from the coast.

Arrested/apprehended fishermen and items handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries of Trincomalee for further legal action.
