VISIT, BOARD, SEARCH AND SEIZURE (VBSS) COURSE FOR REGIONAL AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES COMMENCED AT MIRISSA

The inaugural ceremony of the Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) Course was held on 08^th November 2021, at Weligambay Villas Resort,Mirissa.eight officers representing Bangladesh Coast Guard and Eight participants from Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) have joined the training program in order to qualify as competent VBSS members. This training is considered as a great opportunity for participants to uplift the skills related to VBSS operations. The programme is sponsored by the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP) of the United Nations Office of Drug and Crime (UNODC) and two well qualified foreign instructors with four local instructors from SLN and SLCG are conducting the programme.

Furthermore, this course can be considered as another significant international training extension facilitated by SLCG's Advanced Training Center under the purview of the Regional Capacity Building Program. The Director Training, SLCG Captain (G) JGDAK Jayaweera RWP, RSP, USP, psc presided the inaugural ceremony with UNODC instructors at the event.
