COAST GUARD RESCUED NINE LOCALS AT RISK OF DROWNING

The Life Savers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Life Saving Posts, Mirissa, Benthota, Mt Lavinia, and Gopalpuram, Trincomalee rescued nine locals during five successful rescue attempts on 04th and 05th December 2021.

A 24 years old male resident of Malabe was rescued by Coast Guard life savers at Mirissa beach. Six males from Rajagiriya, Balangoda, and Hatton were rescued by Coast Guard life savers at Mt Lavinia whilst drowning and dragging away by currents near Mt Lavinia beach. A 29 years old female from Anuradhapura was also rescued by Coast Guard life savers at Gopalpuram beach in Trincomalee. Another 30 years old male from Benthota was rescued by Coast Guard life savers at Benthota beach.

So far, Sri Lanka Coast Guard life savers have rescued a total of 1615 invaluable lives including 709 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
