DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD AWARDED LETTERS OF COMMENDATION TO FIVE COAST GUARD LIFESAVERS

The Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake awarded Letters of Commendation to five Coast Guard lifesavers in recognition of their exceptional performance in rescuing civilian lives endangered due to drowning in an exemplary manner, whilst performing duties as active lifesavers during the period under review from 01st January to 29th December 2021.

Accordingly, Petty Officer PAK Somarathna XS 45656, Leading Seaman MKD Pushpakumara VA 60057, Leading Seaman LAKS Liyanarachchi XS 53092, Leading Seaman ADR Senavirathna XS 100124, Able Seaman RLAK Wijewickrama XS 53320 received the “Commendation Letters” from Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard.

The Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard praised their bravery and prompt response in rescuing civilian lives from drowning whilst preserving personal dignity and the reputation of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard among the local and foreign personnel which had made the Sri Lanka Coast Guard proud. He commended the dedication of the five lifesavers for their voluntary actions with utmost dedication as a personal example also lead to motivating other Coastguardsmen as well.

The Deputy Director General, Directors, and a cross-section of coastguardsmen attached to the Coast Guard Southern Region were also present on the occasion.
