NEW BUDDHA STATUE OPENED AT COAST GUARD STATION KIRINDA

The newly built shrine with Buddha statue was opened at Coast Guard Station Kirinda (CGS Kirinda) on 31st December 2021. The Buddha statue was placed in the shrine room at an auspicious time with the blessing of Maha Sanga. Chief incumbent of Daladagama temple Venerable Denagama Saagala Thero, and Chief incumbent Kirinda temple Venerable Yatagala Vineetha Thero and other Buddhist Monks conducted the religious rituals. Officer in Command of Coast Guard Station Kirinda, Commander (ND) Wijitha Thilakarathna, and the ship’s company participated in the religious ceremony.

Sri Lanka Navy Buddhist Association funded the construction of the Buddha Shrine and manpower requirement was provided by the Civil Engineering department of Sri Lanka Coast Guard and Coast Guard personnel of CGS Kirinda. Further, seven feet tall Buddha statue was donated by the Sri Lanka Navy Buddhist Association.
