COAST GUARD RESCUED A FOREIGNER AND FOUR LOCALS AT RISK OF DROWNING

Lifesavers attached to the Coast Guard Life Saving Posts, Hikkaduwa, Panadura and Gopalpuram, Trincomalee beach had rescued a Russian national and four locals during four successful rescue attempts on 17th January 2022.

A 42 years old male from Russia, was rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at Hikkaduwa, whilst drowning and dragging away by currents near Hikkaduwa beach. Another 52 years old male,a resident of Panadura was rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at Panadura beach. Also SLCG and Police lifesavers are searching for another 18 years old missing boy in the same place. A 26 years old lady and a 27 years old male from Kurunegala and a 23 years old male from Puttalam were rescued by the Coast Guard rescuers at Gopalpuram, Trincomalee. The lady was transferred to the Base Hospital Nilaweli for further medical treatments.

With this incidents, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers have rescued a total of 1644 invaluable lives including 713 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
