COAST GUARD RESCUED A RUSSIAN NATIONAL AT RISK OF DROWNING

The Life Savers attached to Coast Guard Life Saving Post, Benthota beach rescued a Russian national, during a successful rescue attempt on 30th January 2022. A 32 years old Russian male was rescued by the Coast Guard rescuers at Benthota, whilst drowning and dragging away by currents near Benthota beach.

The swift responses by skilled lifesavers of the Coast Guard managed to bring back hope for drowning foreigner despite heavy current prevailed in the area.

So far, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers have rescued a total of 1649 invaluable lives including 716 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
