ANOTHER MILESTONE OF SLCG

Sri Lanka Coast Guard proudly took part in the 74th Independence Day celebrations held at Independence Square, Colombo with great pride on 04th February 2022 for the first time in history. This prestigious event was graced by the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa, as the Chief Guest.

Representing the Sri Lanka Coast Guard at the Independence Day parade, 05 Officers and 85 sailors in one division were attended. The Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ensign was carried by Lieutenant Commander Nihal Karunarathne and the Sri Lanka Coast Guard component was commanded by Lieutenant Commander Yohan Gunarathne. The Drill Instructor of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard division was Master Chief Petty Officer DHKPT Jayewardana.

Among the senior politicians and government officials, Admiral of the Fleet, Wasantha Karannagoda, Marshal of the Air Force, Roshan Goonetileke, Secretary of Defence, Major General (Retd.) Kamal Gunaratne, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Commander of the Navy, Commander of the Air Force, Inspector General of Police, Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake, members of the diplomatic corps, were graced this occasion.
