AUSTRALIAN DELEGATION PAID A COURTESY CALL ON THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF SRI LANKA COAST GUARD

The Director General-Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake welcomed the delegation from Australian Border Force (ABF) at the Coast Guard Headquarters, Mirissa on 15th February 2022 and appreciated their visit all the way to Mirissa.

Director General SLCG thankfully reminded the infrastructure facilities, training and professional assistance received from the Australian government and the ABF. Further, he explained the dedicated service of SLCG to deter human smuggling, counter-narcotic and IUU fishing in the country and difficulties faced in conducting such operations.

Visiting Australian delegation headed by Cmde Ky Blackman (Deputy Commander, Joint Agency Task Force, Operation Sovereign Borders), and comprised with Inspector Joel Kaldasaun and Inspector Brett Zehnder (First Secretary ABF). They introduced the role and task of their mandate and some of the achievements in Australian waters. They also expressed the possibilities for extending further training and infrastructure assistance for the enhancement of inter-agency cooperation and interaction. The cordial meeting culminated with an exchange of mementoes.
