JAPANESE DELEGATION PAID A COURTESY CALL ON THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF SRI LANKA COAST GUARD

The Director General-Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake welcomed the delegation from Japan Coast Guard (JCG) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at the Coast Guard Headquarters, Mirissa on 20th February 2022 and appreciated their visit all the way to Mirissa.

Director General SLCG extended appreciation for Japanese government JCG and JICA for their continuous support in infrastructure development and capacity building of Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Further, he explained the intention to work closely with Japan and to enhance the exchange of information on maritime safety and security.

Visiting Japanese delegation headed by Mr. Koji Tsuchiya (Senior Advisor JICA), and comprised with Mr. Daiki Maeno (JCG), Mr. Hiryuki Fukushima (JICA), Mr. Ichiharu Tanaka (JCG), Mr. Yoshimi Karasawa (JCG). They appreciated the active participation and professionalism of SLCG personnel at the recently concluded oil spill response exercise and maintaining the in the highest standard two Fast Patro Vessels (FPV) donated by Japanese government in 2018.

Japanese delegation also emphasized the purpose of establishing Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT) of the JCG and its willingness to assist countries in the Indo-Pacific region to increase their capacity building. They also expressed the possibilities for extending further training and infrastructure assistance for the enhancement of inter-agency cooperation and interaction. The cordial meeting culminated with an exchange of mementoes.
