The Life Savers attached to the Coast Guard Life Saving Post, Mirrissa and Benthota rescued local civilian and Iranian citizen during successful rescue attempts on 19th March 2022. One 31 years old Local female and 46 years old male Iranian were rescued whilst drowning and dragging away by the currents near Mirissa and Benthota beach respectively.
The swift responses by skilled lifesavers of the Coast Guard managed to bring back hope for drowning personnel despite heavy current prevailing in the area. The condition of rescued personnel was stable and left locations after expressing repeated admiration to the SLCG lifesavers.
So far, the Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers have rescued a total of 1698 invaluable lives including 734 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
