AUSTRALIAN BOARDER FORCE SENIOR ENVOY PAID A COURTESY CALL

Australian border forced (ABF) Superintendent (Ms.) Joanne Prior of Australian High Commission in India was made a short visit to Sri Lanka yesterday and despite her busy schedule, she was pleased to meet Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard (DG SLCG) at Coast Guard rear headquarters at Wellawatta on 31st Mar 2022.

DG SLCG Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake welcomed Superintendent (Ms.) Joanne Prior and the First Secretary Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka Inspector Brett Zehnder. Superintendent expressed her admiration to the admiral for the acceptance of short notice invitation for the courtesy call. During the discussion both parties were exchanged most relevant details on own role and task and common challenges in performing duties in MDA and counter human trafficking and smuggling activities.

Further, DG SLCG expressed his admiration to the Australian High Commission and ABF for various types of assistance been provided in different aspects to improve the capacity of the growing organization and explained the uninterrupted performance of SLCG mandated tasks under temporary economic difficulties of the country.

Inspector Brett Zehnder briefly described the coordination of two organizations and future planned activities and the progress of their initiatives to support SLCG. Superintendent explained the proposed future collaboration and conduct of training with regional organizations to promote inter-agency coordination and developing capacity and leadership of future management of respective organizations. The cordial meeting culminated with an exchange of souvenirs.
