Awarded certificates to course participants of Vessel Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) Instructor Course, VBSS Boarding Team Course and Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) Course

United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) sponsored Vessel Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) Instructor training programme, VBSS Boarding Team course and Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) courses were successfully completed on 25th March 2022. The training programmes were conducted at the Sober Island by Special Boat Squadron (SBS) of SLN with the assistance Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP) of UNODC.

Two Officers from Bangladesh Coast Guard and each from SBS and SLCG have successfully completed VBSS Instructor course and awarded with the certificates at the closing ceremony. The Commanding Officer of SBS Captain (SBS) Nissanka Wickramasingha awarded the certificates to the course participants.

Eight Officers from Bangladesh Coast Guard and Four Officers & Four Sailors from SBS and Three Officers & Five Sailors from SLCG have successfully completed VBSS Boarding Team course and awarded with the certificates at the closing ceremony. The Chief Instructor of UNODC Mr Mr Stuart Melville awarded the certificates to the course participants.

One Officer and Three Sailors from SLCG has successfully completed RHIB familiarization course and awarded with the certificates at the closing ceremony. The Regional Director Eastern Region, LCdr Jayamal Jayawardhane awarded the certificates to the course participants.

The Chief Guest Captain (SBS) Nissanka Wickramasinghe, congratulated all course participants for successful completion of the course and specially expressed his appreciation to the GMCP - UNODC for enhancing regional law enforcement training activities. Further, Mr Stuart Melville expressed his valuable views as the Chief Instructor of these three courses at the end of the ceremony. Moreover, LCdr Abhishek Panday from Indian Navy and Full Corporal Joshua Resteiner from Seychelles Coast Guard Special Force have been served as the secondment instructors for these three courses.
