ANOTHER BATCH OF NAVY MEMBERS QUALIFIED TO UNDERTAKE DROWNING PREVENTION RESPONSIBILITIES

In view of improving the human resource base of the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), forty candidates including fourteen officers have qualified to undertake drowning prevention responsibilities. The training course was commenced on 09th May 2022 and the candidates were given more realistic training exposure on rescue techniques and administration of lifesaving first aid in a five-day training program held at Sri Lanka Coast Guard Life Saving Training School (LSTS). The training course was terminated on 13th May 2022 and the candidates were deemed to be qualified in lifesaving Basic and Resuscitation Level after assessing their competencies for aquatic accident response.

So far, 88 candidates representing all branches of SLN have completed Basic and Resuscitation Level lifesaving training course. More lifesaving training opportunities have been allocated for SLN under the directives of Director General SLCG in view of building confidence in young officers and sailors to make them qualified for contributing in various capacities to reduce the number of valuable lifes lost in Sri Lanka.
