COAST GUARD SEIZES STOCK OF KENDU LEAVES BEING SMUGGLED BY SEA

Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel attached to the Coast Guard Station Chilaw arrested a person along with a consignment of 380.5 kg of Kendu Leaves and 108 Nos of 01 Ltr bottles of Herbicides being smuggled into the Island via sea routes. This arrest was conducted during a special search operation conducted along the beach area of Chilaw on 18^th May 2022. The consignment comprised about 380.5 kg of Kendu Leaves in 08 polythene sacks and 108 Nos of 01 Ltr bottles of Herbicides wrapped in 03 polythene sacks.

The arrest was done based on information provided by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Intelligence personnel and arrested person with apprehended items handed over to the Chilaw Police Station for onward legal actions.
