SRI LANKA COAST GUARD ARRESTED FOUR PERSONS WHILST ATTEMPTING TO TRANSFER DIESEL FROM A FISHING VESSEL

Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel deployed at Kalpitiya Fishery Harbour for fishery monitoring and regulating duties arrested/ apprehended four persons along with a Freezer Truck whilst attempting to transfer 420 Liters of Diesel (21 cans) from a fishing vessel berthed inside the Kalpitiya Fishery Harbour on 15th August 2022.

This arrest has been made after careful observation by the vigilant Coast Guard personnel on duty about the suspicious behaviour of those persons when the Freezer Truck arrived near the Fishing Vessel at around 0130 hours on 15th August 2022. The arrested suspects are aged between 28 and 44 years and residents of the Kandakuliya and Kalpitiya areas.

The arrested persons with apprehended Freezer Truck and 21 No’s of fuel cans were handed over to the Kalpitiya Police Station for onward legal actions.
