LIEUTENANT COMMANDER (G) MT VITTACHCHI ASSUMED COMMAND OF THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD SHIP SAMARAKSHA

Lieutenant Commander (G) Malika Vittachchi assumed duties as the 4th Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Samaraksha on 25th August 2022, which is one of two oil spill capable ships of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard.

The Change of Command Ceremony was graced by the Regional Director Western Region Captain (C) IHJ Buddhika. The former Commanding Officer of the ship Lieutenant Commander (G) Sujan Menikge formally handed over the duties to his successor after a brief but colourful ceremony at SLNS Rangalla at Colombo harbour.

The proceeding of the event came to closure after an inspection of divisions by the new Commanding Officer. Lieutenant Commander (G) Sujan Menikge was appointed as the Staff Officer (Personnel and Administration) at Sri Lanka Coast Guard headquarters in Mirissa.
