Sri Lanka Coast Guard Eastern Region counducted beach cleaning programme at Back bay beach area in liaison with regional representatives of Maraine Environment Protection authority (MEPA) on 17th September 2022 to commemorate International Coastal Clean-up Day which comes during the third Saturday in September in each year, and this is the single largest Coastal clean-up day in the world. The event was followed by the National Maraine Resources Conservation week from 17-23 sep and series of following beach cleaning programme have been scheduled by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) and the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) in liaison with MarineEnvironment Protection Authority (MEPA).
