DIRECTOR GENERAL COAST GUARD VISITED COAST GUARD NORTHERN REGION

Embarking on an official visit to the Coast Guard Northern Region, the Director General Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana looked into the operational readiness and administrative functions of the Coast Guard Northern Region on 29th and 30th December 2022. During the visit, Director General Coast Guard inspected the Coast Guard Northern Region Headquarters, Fishing Monitoring Points, SLCGS Jayesagara and all fleet units including Fast Patrol Boats as well as the progress of ongoing training in the Coast Guard Northern Region.

Addressing the Coast Guard Personnel in the Northern Region, Director General Coast Guard expressed his appreciation to them for the performance of their duty and execution of operations despite many challenges specific to the region. He also emphasized the need of maintaining operational readiness, continuous training and maintenance of competent force in the Northern region to meet the future challenges in the region. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of the commitment of all Coast Guard Personnel to ensure national security and enforcing the law in maritime zones, which is a prime responsibility of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. The Commanding Officer SLCGS Jayesagara, Regional Director Coast Guard Northern Region, and officers and Coast Guard personnel attached to the Coast Guard Northern Region were present on these occasions.
