AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON OIL SPILL MANAGEMENT CONDUCTED IN TRINCOMALEE HARBOUR

Three days awareness programme for Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel attached to Eastern Region and Fast Patrol Boats was successfully conducted from 27^th to 29^th December 2022 with the aim of improving subject knowledge under the supervision /guidance of the Regional Director Eastern Region.

The Programme was mainly focused on training on Oil Spill preparedness and response, equipment and their usage, Oil Spill response techniques, effects of the oil spills on the marine environment, economic and social activities and shoreline cleanup techniques followed by the simulated exercise on oil spill response incident at the Trincomalee harbour.
