THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD AWARDED LETTERS OF COMMENDATION TO COAST GUARD LIFESAVERS

The Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana awarded Letters of Commendation to Coast Guard lifesavers in recognition of their exceptional performance in rescuing civilian lives endangered due to drowning in an exemplary manner, whilst performing duties as active lifesavers during the period under review from 01^st January to 11^th November 2022.

A total of 24 Coast Guard personnel were eligible to receive the Letters of Commendation and those who are currently serving in the Mirissa received their Letters of Commendation from the Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard on 02^nd January 2023.

The Director General of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard praised their bravery and prompt response in rescuing civilian lives from drowning whilst preserving personal dignity and the reputation of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard among the local and foreign personnel which had made the Sri Lanka Coast Guard proud. He commended the dedication of the lifesavers for their voluntary actions with utmost dedication as a personal example also lead to motivating other Coastguardsmen as well.

The Deputy Director General, Directors, and a cross-section of coastguardsmen attached to the Coast Guard Southern Region were also present on the occasion.
