COAST GUARD RESCUED A FOREIGNER AND LOCALS FROM DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Posts Balapitiya and Hikkaduwa beaches saved a foreigner and three locals during a successful rescue attempt on 06th January 2023.

A 64-year-old Danish male and three local males including a teenager (27, 26, and 13 years old) were rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at lifesaving post Balapitiya and Hikkaduwa whilst drowning at sea.

The swift response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to bring back hope for these drowning people despite the heavy current in the area.

To date, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued a total of 1810 invaluable lives including 780 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
