COAST GUARD RESCUED A FOREIGN COUPLE FROM RISK OF DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Mirissa public beach saved a foreign couple during a successful rescue attempt on 12th January 2023.

A 19-years and 18 years-old Russian male and female were rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at lifesaving post Mirissa beach whilst at risk of drowning at sea.

The expeditious response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save this foreign couple from the risk of drowning despite the heavy current in the area.

To date, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued a total of 1813 invaluable lives including 783 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
