SLCG BRINGS ASHORE AN ILL FISHERMAN FOR TREATMENT

Sri Lanka Coast Guard rendered assistance to bring ashore an ill fisherman and transferred him to the hospital for treatment on the night of 16th January 2023. The fisherman was suffering from chest pain while aboard a local multiday fishing vessel that was operating off the Beruwala area.

The fishing vessel ‘Lakmali 12’ from which the patient was retrieved left the Beruwala fisheries harbour on 10th January 2023 for fishing practice.

The relative of the owner of the fishing vessel had informed the SLCG, about a fisherman who was down with chest pain, while aboard. In response to a request for assistance, SLCG directed the Inshore Patrol Craft CG 208 attached to the Coast Guard Station Beruwala to the location of the fishing vessel to retrieve the patient.

Upon transferring the ill fisherman to Inshore Patrol Craft, he was brought to the Beruwala Fishery Harbour and subsequently, the patient was rushed to the Nagoda Base Hospital by Suwasariya Ambulance for medical attention.
