COAST GUARD SEIZES STOCK OF KENDU LEAVES BEING SMUGGLED BY SEA

Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel attached to Coast Guard Station Chilaw arrested two persons along with a consignment of 2,467 kg of Kendu Leaves being smuggled into the island via sea routes by using three FGDs.

These were arrested during a special search operation conducted seas off the Thoduwawa area on 18^th January 2023. The consignment comprised about 2,467 kg of Kendu Leaves in 76 polythene sacks.

The arrest was done based on information provided by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard intelligence personnel and the arrested persons with apprehended items were handed over to the Exercise Department of Sri Lanka for onward legal actions.
