COAST GUARD RESCUED A LOCAL FROM RISK OF DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Mirissa public beach saved a local during a successful rescue attempt on 22nd January 2023.

A 29-years old male was rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at lifesaving post Mirissa beach whilst at risk of drowning at sea. The expeditious response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save this person from drowning despite the heavy current in the area.

To date, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued a total of 1814 invaluable lives including 783 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
