Operator Training for Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS)

Renowned drone operators from the Australian Border Force trained Sri Lankan Coast Guard personnel on the theoretical and practical facets of drone operation over four days, which was terminated on 24^th January 2023 at the Advanced Training Center in Kirinda.

Seven Sri Lanka Coast Guard officers and ten sailors have become the first Sri Lanka Coast Guard drone operators in history. In future, SLCG intends to use DJI Air 2S and DJI Air M 30 T drone models onboard ships and land facilities for day and night operations mainly focused on law enforcement operations such as aerial assessment, search and rescue missions, operational surveillance, coastal mapping, and reconnaissance for situational awareness, evidence recording, and intelligence gathering.
