COAST GUARD RESCUED A FOREIGNER FROM RISK OF DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Hikkaduwa public beach saved a foreigner during a successful rescue attempt on 25th January 2023.

A 47-years old Chinese female was rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at lifesaving post Hikkaduwa beach whilst at risk of drowning at sea. The expeditious response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save this Chinese female from drowning despite the heavy current in the area.

To date, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued a total of 1815 invaluable lives including 784 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
