COMMANDER (C) ADRW ATHUKORALA ASSUMED COMMAND OF THE SRI LANKA COAST GUARD SHIP JAYESAGARA

Commander (C) Rangana Athukorala assumed duties as the 2nd Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Jayesagara on 31st January 2023, which is the second largest ship of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Before taking over the command as the Commanding Officer of SLCGS Jayesagara, Commander (C) Rangana Athukorala was at the Coast Guard Headquarters, discharging duties as the Senior Staff Officer (Operations).

The Change of Command Ceremony was graced by the Director Operations Captain (G) Prasad Vithanage. The former Commanding Officer of the ship Commander (ND) Mahanama Thilakarathne formally handed over the duties to his successor after a brief but colourful ceremony at the Kankasanthurai harbour.

The proceeding of the event came to closure after an inspection of divisions by the new Commanding Officer. Commander (ND) Mahanama Thilakarathne was appointed as the Command Operation Officer of the Northern Naval Command.
