COAST GUARD RESCUED THREE LOCALS FROM RISK OF DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Posts Balapitiya and Gopalapuram public beaches saved three locals during a successful rescue attempt on 04th February 2023.

Two local males (44 and 42 years old) and 23 years old local male were rescued by Coast Guard rescuers attached to lifesaving posts Balapitiya and Gopalapuram beach respectively whilst drowning at sea. The swift response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save these locals from drowning despite the heavy current in the area.

So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued a total of 18 invaluable lives including 9 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
