COAST GUARD RESCUED A FOREIGN COUPLE FROM RISK OF DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Hikkaduwa public beach saved a foreign couple during a successful rescue operation on 05th February 2023.

A 64 and 58-year-old French male and female were rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at lifesaving post Hikkaduwa public beach whilst drowning at sea. The expeditious response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save this foreign couple from drowning despite the heavy current in the area.

So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued a total of 20 invaluable lives including 11 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
