COAST GUARD RESCUED A LOCAL FROM DROWNING

The Lifesavers attached to Sri Lanka Coast Guard Lifesaving Post Mount Lavinia beach saved a local during a successful rescue attempt on 11th February 2023.

An 18-year-old male was rescued by Coast Guard rescuers at the lifesaving post Mount Lavinia public beach whilst drowning and dragging away by currents.

The swift response by skilled Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers managed to save this local person despite the heavy current in the area.

So far in 2023, Sri Lanka Coast Guard lifesavers attached to 16 life-saving posts around the country have rescued a total of 21 invaluable lives including 11 foreigners in a number of successful rescue attempts.
